Hike in CNG may halt Green Initiative

Big auto players yearning to make their cars go green with green technology received a setback seeing the rising price of CNG. Compressed Natural Gas is soon to be inflated heavily with an increase of nearly 20%.

The news brought a heart-shaky situation to most automobile manufacturers as they had grand plans of coming up with factory fitted CNG kit cars. At present, there are some cars which are already running successful on such kits. These are Mahindra Logan, Chevrolet Aveo, Hyundai Accent, Toyota Innova and Corolla Altis among others.

Missing infrastructure for these CNG based vehicles, is a great halt in way of sales of CNG vehicles. But the price of CNG still makes it one of the economical fuel options when compared to conventional auto fuels like petrol and diesel.

With lacks of CNG vehicles running on roads today can a hike in CNG make a halt to this green initiative? The question is niggling and vexing for manufacturers as well as consumers.
